BNV : রাজা আহাব রাণী ঈষেবলকে এলিয় যা যা করেছেন, য়ে ভাবে সমস্ত ভাববাদীদের তরবারি দিয়ে হত্যা করেছেন সবই বললেন|
KJV : And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and withal how he had slain all the prophets with the sword.
YLT : And Ahab declareth to Jezebel all that Elijah did, and all how he slew all the prophets by the sword,

BNV : ঈষেবল তখন এলিয়র কাছে দূত মারফত্‌ খবর পাঠালেন, “আমি প্রতিজ্ঞা করছি আগামীকাল এসময়ের আগে তুমি য়ে ভাবে ঐ ভাববাদীদের হত্যা করেছ ঠিক সে ভাবেই তোমাকে হত্যা করব| আর যদি তা না পারি তাহলে য়েন দেবতারা আমায় হত্যা করেন|”
KJV : Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do [to me,] and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by to morrow about this time.
YLT : and Jezebel sendeth a messenger unto Elijah, saying, `Thus doth the gods, and thus do they add, surely about this time to-morrow, I make thy life as the life of one of them.`
RV : Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time.
RSV : Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, "So may the gods do to me, and more also, if I do not make your life as the life of one of them by this time tomorrow."
ASV : Then Jezebel send a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by to-morrow about this time.
ESV : Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, "So may the gods do to me and more also, if I do not make your life as the life of one of them by this time tomorrow."
ERVEN : So Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah and said, "I swear that by this time tomorrow, you will be just as dead as those prophets. If I don't succeed, may the gods do the same or worse to me."

BNV : এলিয় যখন একথা শুনলেন তখন ভয়ে তিনি তাঁর প্রাণ বাঁচাতে ভৃত্যকে সঙ্গে নিয়ে যিহূদার বেরশেবাতে পালিয়ে গেলেন| তাঁর ভৃত্যকে বেরশেবাতে রেখে

BNV : এলিয় সারাদিন হেঁটে হেঁটে অবশেষে মরুভূমিতে গিয়ে পৌঁছলেন| সেখানে একটা কাঁটা ঝোপের তলায় বসে তিনি মৃত্যু প্রার্থনা করে বললেন, “প্রভু য়থেষ্ট হয়েছে| এবার আমাকে মরতে দাও| আমি আমার পূর্বপুরুষদের অপেক্ষা কোনো অংশেই ভালো নই|”
KJV : But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I [am] not better than my fathers.
YLT : and he himself hath gone into the wilderness a day`s Journey, and cometh and sitteth under a certain retem-tree, and desireth his soul to die, and saith, `Enough, now, O Jehovah, take my soul, for I [am] not better than my fathers.`

ERVEN : and walked for a whole day into the desert. Then he sat down under a bush and asked to die. He said, "I have had enough, Lord! Take my life. I am no better than my ancestors. "

BNV : এরপর এলিয় সেই ঝোপের তলায় শুয়ে ঘুমিযে পড়লেন| এসময় এক দেবদূত এসে এলিয়কে স্পর্শ করে বলল, “ওঠো এলিয় খেযে নাও!”

BNV : এলিয় দেখতে পেলেন তাঁর পাশেই কযলার ওপরে এক খানা কেক বানানো আছে আর এক ঘড়া জল রাখা আছে| এলিয় তা খেযে জল পান করে আবার ঘুমিযে পড়লেন|
KJV : And he looked, and, behold, [there was] a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again.
YLT : and he looketh attentively, and lo, at his bolster a cake [baken on] burning stones, and a dish of water, and he eateth, and drinketh, and turneth, and lieth down.

ERVEN : Elijah looked around, and by his head there was a cake that had been baked over coals and a jar of water. He ate and drank and then went back to sleep.

BNV : পরে আবার প্রভুর দূত ফিরে এসে তাঁকে বলল, “ওঠো এলিয়! কিছু খাও! সামনে লম্বা সফর, যদি তুমি খেযে গায়ে জোর না বাড়াও পাড়ি দিতে পারবে না|”
KJV : And the angel of the LORD came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise [and] eat; because the journey [is] too great for thee.
YLT : And the messenger of Jehovah turneth back a second time, and cometh against him, and saith, `Rise, eat, for the way is too great for thee;`

ERVEN : Later the Lord's angel came to him again and said, "Get up and eat! If you don't, you will not be strong enough to make the long trip."

BNV : এলিয় তখন উঠে পানাহার করলেন| সেই খাবার এলিয়কে একটানা 4040 দিন 40 রাত্রি হাঁটার মতো শক্তি জোগালো| হাঁটতে হাঁটতে তিনি ঈশ্বরের পর্বত নামে পরিচিত হোরেব পর্বতে গিয়ে পৌঁছলেন|
KJV : And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.
YLT : and he riseth, and eateth, and drinketh, and goeth in the power of that food forty days and forty nights, unto the mount of God -- Horeb.

ERVEN : There Elijah went into a cave and spent the night. Then the Lord said to him, "Elijah, why are you here?"

BNV : এলিয় উত্তর দিলেন, “প্রভু ঈশ্বর সর্বশক্তিমান, আমি সব সময় সাধ্য মতো তোমার সেবা করেছি| কিন্তু ইস্রায়েলের লোকরা তোমার সঙ্গে চুক্তিভঙ্গ করে তোমার বেদী ধ্বংস করে ভাববাদীদের হত্যা করেছে| এখন আমিই একমাত্র জীবিত ভাববাদী আর তাই ওরা আমাকেও হত্যার চেষ্টা করছে|”
KJV : And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, [even] I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.
YLT : And he saith, `I have been very zealous for Jehovah, God of Hosts, for the sons of Israel have forsaken Thy covenant -- Thine altars they have thrown down, and Thy prophets they have slain by the sword, and I am left, I, by myself, and they seek my life -- to take it.`

ERVEN : Elijah answered, "Lord God All- Powerful, I have always served you the best I can, but the Israelites have broken their agreement with you. They destroyed your altars and killed your prophets. I am the only prophet left alive, and now they are trying to kill me!"

BNV : প্রভু তখন এলিয়কে বললেন, “যাও পর্বতে গিয়ে আমার সামনে দাঁড়াও| আমি ঐ জায়গা দিয়ে যাব|” তখন ঝোড়ো হাওযা এসে পর্বতটাকে ভেঙ্গে দ্বিখণ্ডিত করল, বড় বড় পাথরের চাঁই খসে পড়ল, কিন্তু সেই ঝড়ের মধ্যে প্রভু ছিলেন না| ঝড়ের পর হল ভূমিকম্প| কিন্তু সেই ভূমিকম্পও প্রভু বয়ং নন|
KJV : And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; [but] the LORD [was] not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; [but] the LORD [was] not in the earthquake:
YLT : And He saith, `Go out, and thou hast stood in the mount before Jehovah.` And lo, Jehovah is passing by, and a wind -- great and strong -- is rending mountains, and shivering rocks before Jehovah: -- not in the wind [is] Jehovah; and after the wind a shaking: -- not in the shaking [is] Jehovah;

And behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind tore the mountains and broke in pieces the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. ERVEN : Then the Lord said to Elijah, "Go, stand in front of me on the mountain. I will pass by you." Then a very strong wind blew. The wind caused the mountains to break apart. It broke large rocks in front of the Lord. But that wind was not the Lord. After that wind, there was an earthquake. But that earthquake was not the Lord.

BNV : ভূমিকম্পের আগুন জ্বলে উঠল| কিন্তু আগুনের মধ্যেও প্রভু ছিলেন না| আগুন নিভিযে দেওয়া হল| একটি শান্ত, কোমল স্বর শোনা গেল|
KJV : And after the earthquake a fire; [but] the LORD [was] not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.
YLT : and after the shaking a fire: -- not in the fire [is] Jehovah; and after the fire a voice still small;

ERVEN : After the earthquake, there was a fire. But that fire was not the Lord. After the fire, there was a quiet, gentle voice.

BNV : এলিয় যখন স্বরটা শুনতে পেলেন তখন তিনি তাঁর শাল দিয়ে তাঁর মুখ ঢেকে দিলেন| তারপর তিনি গিয়ে গুহার প্রবেশ মুখে দাঁড়ালেন| একটি স্বর তাঁকে জিজ্ঞাসা করল, “এলিয়, তুমি এখানে কেন?”
KJV : And it was [so,] when Elijah heard [it,] that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, [there came] a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?
YLT : and it cometh to pass, at Elijah`s hearing [it], that he wrappeth his face in his robe, and goeth out, and standeth at the opening of the cave, and lo, unto him [is] a voice, and it saith, `What -- to thee, here, Elijah?`
RV : And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?

ASV : And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entrance of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?
ESV : And when Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. And behold, there came a voice to him and said, "What are you doing here, Elijah?"
ERVEN : When Elijah heard the voice, he used his coat to cover his face and went to the entrance to the cave and stood there. Then a voice said to him, "Elijah, why are you here?"

BNV : এলিয় বললেন, “প্রভু, ঈশ্বর সর্বশক্তিমান, আমি সব সময়ই আমার সাধ্য মতো তোমার সেবা করে এসেছি কিন্তু ইস্রায়েলের লোকরা তোমার সঙ্গে তাদের চুক্তিভঙ্গ করেছে| তারা তোমার পূজোর বেদী ধ্বংস করে সমস্ত ভাববাদীদের হত্যা করেছে| এখন আমিই একমাত্র জীবিত আছি| আর ওরা আমাকে হত্যার চেষ্টা করছে|”

BNV : প্রভু বললেন, “যাও দম্মেশকের পাশের মরুভূমির দিকে য়ে রাস্তা যাচ্ছে সেটা ধরে দম্মেশকে গিয়ে হসায়েলকে অরামের রাজপদে অভিষিক্ত করো|
KJV : And the LORD said unto him, Go, return on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when thou comest, anoint Hazael [to be] king over Syria:
YLT : And Jehovah saith unto him, `Go turn back on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus, and thou hast gone in, and anointed Hazael for king over Aram,
RV : And the LORD said unto him, Go return on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when thou comest, thou shalt anoint Hazael to be king over Syria:
RSV : And the LORD said to him, "Go, return on your way to the wilderness of Damascus; and when you arrive, you shall anoint Hazael to be king over Syria;
ASV : And Jehovah said unto him, Go, return on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when thou comest, thou shalt anoint Hazael to be king over Syria;
ESV : And the LORD said to him, "Go, return on your way to the wilderness of Damascus. And when you arrive, you shall anoint Hazael to be king over Syria.
ERVEN : The Lord said, "Go back. Take the road that leads to the desert around Damascus. Go into Damascus and anoint Hazael as king over Aram.

BNV : তারপর নিম্শির পুত্র য়েহূকে ইস্রায়েলের রাজপদে অভিষেক করো| আর আবেলমহোলার শাফটের পুত্র ইলীশায়কেও অভিষেক করো| সে ভাববাদী হিসেবে তোমার জায়গা নেবে|
KJV : And Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint [to be] king over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel-meholah shalt thou anoint [to be] prophet in thy room.
YLT : and Jehu son of Nimshi thou dost anoint for king over Israel, and Elisha son of Shaphat, of Abel-Meholah, thou dost anoint for prophet in thy stead.
RV : and Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint to be king over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel-meholah shalt thou anoint to be prophet in thy room.
RSV : and Jehu the son of Nimshi you shall anoint to be king over Israel; and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abelmeholah you shall anoint to be prophet in your place.

ESV : And Jehu the son of Nimshi you shall anoint to be king over Israel, and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel-meholah you shall anoint to be prophet in your place.
ERVEN : Then anoint Jehu son of Nimshi as king over Israel. Next, anoint Elisha son of Shaphat from Abel Meholah. He will be the prophet who takes your place.

BNV : হসায়েল বহু খারাপ লোককে হত্যা করবে| হসায়েলের হাত থেকে যারা বেঁচে যাবে তাদের য়েহূ হত্যা করবে| আর য়েহূর তরবারি থেকেও যদি কেউ নিস্তার পেয়ে যায় তাকে ইলীশায় হত্যা করবে|
KJV : And it shall come to pass, [that] him that escapeth the sword of Hazael shall Jehu slay: and him that escapeth from the sword of Jehu shall Elisha slay.
YLT : `And it hath been, him who is escaped from the sword of Hazael, put to death doth Jehu, and him who is escaped from the sword of Jehu put to death doth Elisha;
RV : And it shall come to pass, that him that escapeth from the sword of Hazael shall Jehu slay: and him that escapeth from the sword of Jehu shall Elisha slay;
RSV : And him who escapes from the sword of Hazael shall Jehu slay; and him who escapes from the sword of Jehu shall Elisha slay.
ASV : And it shall come to pass, that him that escapeth from the sword of Hazael shall Jehu slay; and him that escapeth from the sword of Jehu shall Elisha slay.
ESV : And the one who escapes from the sword of Hazael shall Jehu put to death, and the one who escapes from the sword of Jehu shall Elisha put to death.
ERVEN : Jehu will kill anyone who escapes Hazael's sword, and Elisha will kill anyone who escapes from Jehu's sword.

ERVEN : So Elijah left that place and went to find Elisha son of Shaphat. Elisha was plowing 12 acres of land and was working on the last acre when Elijah came. Elijah went to Elisha and put his coat on him.

BNV : ইলীশায় ষাঁড়কে ছেড়ে রেখে এলিয়র পেছনে ছুটে এসে বললেন, “আমাকে অনুমতি দিন, আমি একবার গিয়ে আমার মাকে আদর করে আসি এবং পিতার কাছ থেকে বিদায নিয়ে আসি| তারপর আমি আপনার সঙ্গে যাবো|”এলিয় উত্তর দিল, “বেশ, যাও! আমি তোমাকে বাধা দেব না|”

ERVEN : Elisha turned away from him and went back. He killed the oxen and used the yoke for firewood. He boiled the meat and gave it to the people, and they all ate together. Then Elisha went to follow Elijah and became his helper.
